Panasonic Thin Waterproof Laser Welded Switch Technology
Panasonic Automotive & Industrial Systems Europe introduced an SMD push-button switch named “Light Touch Switch”, which is the thinnest of its kind currently on the market with a thickness of only 0.50mm. Has a very small footprint of only 2.6×1.6mm.
Very light operating force of only 1.0N but still giving a clear tactile feedback, the switch is water-resistant and dust-proof (compliant with IP67 level specifications) making it ideal for use both in indoor and outdoor applications.
Laser welding contributes to a higher sealing that avoids water/oil invasion through the film attached area per Panasonic.
Placing the thin film over the actuator has the side benefit of offering some protection against side loads, which helps prevent damage to the switch.
