So while these are some great examples for consumer applications how can this technology be applied to automotive. Firstly, these applications directly for consumer interaction clearly would indicate that technology can be integrated into HMI Products safely.
However, we also accept that automotive applications generally require a higher level of safety related specifications and testing than normal consumer. So initially the ideal application would be where Power and Ground for lighting cannot be easily provided.
These would be ambient exterior lighting like Monograms, Carrier, Bumper, exterior sheet metal and other arear of decorative low glow ambient lighting.
The challenges are:
- 10-year life cycle requirement.
- Capability to change color as required.
- Lighting ON / OFF capability.
- Meet automotive safety & reliability standards.
