The idea here is to develop Self-Powered E Ink Taxi Display for self-driving Uber a nd other cab services.
- PROBLEM: OE’s wants roof-top sign for new autonomous vehicle program.
- SOLUTION: Two-sided E Ink display powered by ClearView Power (CVP) coating on glass cover.
- ASSUMPTION: CVP can completely recharge the display system in only 1.4 hours of full sunlight.
- Calculation
- Battery capacity: 3,500mAh x 3.7 V (typical voltage for rechargeable batteries) = 12.95 Wh.
- Full sunlight radiant flux: 100 mW/cm²
- CVP power generated with target 10% power conversion efficiency: 10 mW/cm²
- Total power generated by CVP on 1 foot x 1 foot (929 cm²) surface area: 29 Wh
- Total time in full sunlight to completely recharge 3,500 mAh battery:
- 95 Wh / 9.29 Wh = 1.39 hours
- CVP power generation with current 5% power conversion efficiency: 5 mW/cm²
- Total power generated by CVP on 1 foot x 1 foot (929 cm²) surface area: 4.65 Wh
- Total time in full sunlight to completely recharge 3,500 mAh battery:
- 95 Wh / 4.65 Wh = 2.78 hours
