There are many design solutions providing lighting in the glove box. I the last few years’ solutions to light up the map pocket both in ambient lighting and functional lights have been implemented. For some reason there has been limited emphasis to provide functional light in the center console or rear seat armrest glove box.
Recently solution was developed by SOI which is an ideal solution for automotive. The founders Christian Schech and Bastian Wetzel came up with the idea for SOI during a power failure.
It is designed with a proximity sensor – simply an approaching hand or a light tap causes SOI to light up. After ten seconds it turns off automatically, making switches or alike obsolete.
Now there is nothing new in the technology but implementation is excellent and it broadcasts quality and luxury. Ideal application also for aftermarket integration which is sometimes ignored by OE’s – rewarding current car owners.
It is made of white PC with 2 x AAA Alkaline batteries, LED’s and control circuit with sensors. Dimensions are 3″ diameter x 0.9″, Weight: 0.11 lb.
