GLT said its offering can be delivered in lengths to 24 in. or more and in thicknesses ranging from 0.25–4 mm. The company will target automotive, consumer electronics, and white-goods lighting applications with the flexible optic. The more typical rigid guides are being utilized in applications where the optic appears transparent when off but delivers uniform diffuse light when powered on.

The Visilink solution uses electromagnetic waves (or, in this case, photons) to transmit signals over the open air to receivers. The signals are modulated upon transmission and then demodulated at the receiver for use by the end user. The unique characteristic of the Visilink technology is that the transmission media is the part of electromagnetic spectrum which falls into the visible range for the human eye.
For general network conductivity, Visilink uses quasi-white LEDs as transmitters. LED’s, unlike fluorescent and incandescent lights, can be modulated in such a way that the changing power output is not visible to the human eye. LED’s operate on the principal of electroluminescence. A LED, when forward biased with the proper voltage, will force electrons and holes to recombine and release photons of various wavelengths. Since these are semiconductor devices, the rate at which the power output can be modulated is very high.

LUNA OPTICAL DIFFUSERS apply and implement Photoluminescence Technology based on Aluminates, inorganic materials for uniform soft light to glow on in the dark even when the lighting fixture hosting LUNA is switched off.

Like all photo luminescent objects, LUNA OPTICAL DIFFUSERS are “charged” and can be “recharged” by simple exposure to the natural or artificial light for few minutes. Bern glass TIR lens from Auer Lighting:

Auer Lighting Suprax Glass-based products are better match than alternatives such as PMMA or PC in high-reliability LED applications, especially in difficult environments. The Bern TIR lens is one such optic that is made from the Suprax glass. The lens can withstand temperatures as high as 400°C with no discoloring or degradation of photometric performance. The lens offer 85% transmittance or optical efficiency and delivers a 12° beam pattern. The lens is designed for use with 5×5-mm LEDs in discrete packages.

These thermoplastic hot melts use extremely low pressure to encapsulate delicate circuitry. Cycle time is fast and processing temperatures are a modest 130 to 240°C, with in-use temperatures ranging from –40 to +140°C.

Assembled PCBs have to be protected from moisture, mechanical damage or harsh environments – Henkel’s Macromelt injection molding process is low-pressure, even the finest, most delicate circuitry can be encapsulated quickly without damage.
