People who have impaired hearing often can not hear the “click click” of an automotive turn signal and tend to drive with the turn signal on when they do not intend to turn. This is dangerous and annoying to other drivers. This device would simply plug into the OBD2 connector that is typically under the dash board.
The microcontroller with OBD2 interface decodes the turn signal on code and activates the sound generator. Samples can be relatively small 8 bit samples played at 8 KHz sample rate. The microcontroller would play a sample, delay, repeat the sample or delay when signaled that the turn signal is on. With this arrangement, the product would have a volume control and a sound select several position switch. Possible samples could be the “click” of a conventional turn signal, a more pleasant chime sound or possibly a harmonically rich unpleasant sound for the seriously hearing impaired. Any sampled sound is possible.
